Tips n Trix:
To get c128 working way i wanted. I found a basic prog terminal local copy of itthat i modified (cut down)
so i could download a BETTER terminal prog

a shell account...rather..a dial in shell account or a weak linux box will do
preferably both...i could not use nullmodem with c128 since i didn't want to sacrifice the original modem, or build a datapump or similar(c128<->rs232)...so in that case dial in shell account was the rescue download from net to there, then x,y or z modem it "home"
My MPS801 had a problem, the ribbon cassette wouldn't feed, upon opening it i found that the rubber bit on the "feeder" knob, was dried up and fell off at a touch, i replaced this with 2 small O rings (the kind one uses to prevent leakage) i simply brought the knob with me to hardware store, looked through what they had and got 2, thick ones mind you!!!
now it works as noisily as ever *g*

my tool kit (what progs and tools i use normally)

c128/64, here i got the modem, plugged it in, already had a basic listing for a
terminal program that had to be cut down and checked (and typed in)
the reason for cutting it down in size was, the terminal program i wanted
to download was too large..not enough memory to download it, hence dump all
unneeded routines in program
TOOLS USED:
HW tools: none
SW tools: term listing (thanks karl schmitt)to get
nova term and upgrade
then used novaterm since (and LUnix) (very baby linux but cute)
