Hewlett Packard Omnigo 100

Status:Still have it
Name:Hewlett Packard Omnigo 100
Memory:1 Mb (576kb ram to run in, 32kb video ram and 416kb for ram drive)
Monitor/rez:built in 240x240 mono lcd (touch sensitive)
Drives:Pcimcia II slot (supposedly not ATA flash (sram works tho)
ok it does take ssfdc cards, drains power but works, with adapter
of course
CPU:80186@16mhz (vadem)
Secondary cache:N/A
OS:Geos (rom boot--dos--geos 2.1) alternatively dos
Extras:Pen, F1015 cable (omnigo to db9 female), 512kb epson sram card
the sram card has been moved to omnibook425, the omnibook now has
a smartmedia(ssfdc)2pcmcia adapter and 16meg smartmedia card manuals:
omnigo original manual
extra papers from in box, this one is fully documented
somewhat more than an inch of printouts gotten from net (faq's pinouts, so on)
got original box for it too
devices:none but i use it in combination with my nokia 6210

Tips n Trix:
This box is actually an XT compatable CGA compatable (sorta) w 512kb ram or so
so if it's an old time putering program, you can probably run it

well omnicom is essential, so is connectivity pack (well i find it so)
installer is helpful, otherwise izl and ungpk for izl will help

A definate bonus is having either newdeal office or geos
Newdeal office is "geos 3.2" sorta (see links)

DO note that the F1015 cable is a null modem, so if you want to
use omnigo with a modem you have to use ANOTHER null modem, to reverse the
signals back again

since i planned to use phone with omnigo i made a nullmodem out of
an openable db9 male to db9 male gender changer.
it works great with normal modems tho (pcimcia are supposedly shaky)
and serial connection drains batteries like crazy

From what i can determine the omnigo doesn't give a DTR signal
now that utterly SUCKS!!!
then again my HP vectra 486dx2/66mhz doesn't give DTR either so it could be
a HP thing,

but it stops me from using my nokia 6210 w/dlr3 cable with omnigo
as a modem then again nokia shouldn't be using dtr to trigger their cable anyway *heh*
a work around for this has been discovered by *drum roll* me! *lol*
email me and i might be generous enough to tell ya if ya need it

i WILL post a Nokia page despite this being about puters, cause
Nokia's attitude deserves some attitude back

mostly usage notes for it so i won't document them here, this one was actually working fine
and has needed no tricks past some file compressing and messing about
and time on phone and net looking up pinouts and finding out that hp
no longer supports it

my tool kit

connectivity

TOOLS USED:
HW tools:
soldering iron
soldering tin
4 matches
introvac (tin vacuum(for desoldering))
old db9 male to db9 male genderchanger i could open and was willing to sacrifice
SW tools:
omnicom (dos to omnigo connect)
installer (windows program to install gpk files)
ogterm (terminal program for omnigo) later replaced by...
NewComm (newdeal office 3.2a's terminal program)
yes..i run some newdeal office programs on the omnigo
then again i have licences for it too

thanks loads to the newdeal staff for helping me find that one problem i had

(how?, well in newdeal find term.geo, copy that to b:\geoworks\world\term.geo
on omnigo, find the termcaps on desktop machine, mirror the path on omnigo
if it's in "ndo install folder"\document on the desktop puter
then it goes into b:\geoworks\document on omnigo)

you need:
bison.fnt (here is the downside, your passwords will now show in plain text)
termcaps (which ever ones ya plan to use) vt100 and ansi fer sure
term.geo
(i think that's it)
(or c: if you use ramcard like me)

Screen protector
TOOLS USED:
HW tools: scalpel
SW tools:
what i did here was something i found in one of FAQ's
pretty obvious tho, same trick i use when protecting my scanner from messy
or sticky pictures

use overhead film, cut it to fit, and place it over screen
the faq goes into sizes and so, i measured mine meself

i assume everyone can use a ruler?
and a pen?
and cut according to a line MADE on overhead film?
and make sure it's a bit larger than small screen and cut corners slanted?
cause if you can't use a ruler, i'd not let you NEAR one of my scalpels fer sure!!! *LOL*

i DID dlite the whole stuff, well almost...

so contents is now:
artsoft (demo) (i'm still testing it)
pocket quicken
filemanager
ogfile (another filemanager)
ogedit (text editor)
textedit (another text editor)
expert mode (change levels and stuff in geos)
newcomm
tetris
IZL developer (the full one)
omniswp (dos mode screen driver thingy)
dlite (dos /geos exectable file compression)
TXRZ (dos z-modem driver/terminal)
bat2com.com

this in addition to the stuff in rom already (spreadsheet, database, apptbook
phone book, graphing calculator, notepad, bookreader, jotter so on)

this leaves me with close to 200 kb free on internal ram drive (b:\)
and almost nothing on c: (SRAM pcimcia card), cept for space enough
for a normal back up of apptbook spreadsheet so on

omnigo links

IZL scriptlanguage for geos (resource&download)

Uuuuuuh boy, well geos links are good for ya here
will put up these later
on request i can send out what i've gathered. In sweden only
600 of these little sweeties were sold, so i don't expect a large
rush for info on it, therefore i won't upload unless someone desperately
needs it
